Robert N. (Bob) Rushing, 69 of Lone Oak, KY died at 1:44 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home. He was the youngest child of fifteen born to his parents, James “Jim” Louis Rushing and Cora Lee Legate Rushing. Bob was retired from U.S.E.C where he was a Store Clerk in the Stores Department for thirteen years. He taught school at Reidland Middle School for two years and then worked for State Farm Insurance for eighteen years before his retirement. Bob was a lifetime member of Highland Cumberland Prsebyterian Church where he taught Sunday School and was the Choir Director. He was a 1964 graduate of Lone Oak High School, 1966 graduate of Paducah Junior College and a 1968 graduate of Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee, where he received his Bachlors Degree. Bob loved people and cooking for them. He enjoyed cooking food to share with all his friends and playing Bridge.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Carrie Rushing McKee and husband Casey of Walton, Kentucky; son, James Robert “Bo” Rushing and wife Amy of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; four sisters, Martha Lou “Babe” Perry of Paducah, Kentucky, Joyce Guhy of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Betty Rushing of Paducah, Kentucky, Shirley Myers and husband Will of Columbia, Illinois; three brothers, Kenneth Rushing and wife Elene of Paducah, Kentucky, Buddy Rushing and wife Ann of Paducah, Kentucky, Roy Rushing and wife Sharon of Paducah, Kentucky and one brother-in-law, Ed Schnittger of Columbia, IL; three grandchildren, Caleb Rushing, Caroline Rushing, Carson McKee and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ann Boatwright, Rebecca Metcalf, Allie Jones, Margie Schnittger; three brothers, Jimmy Rushing, Bill Rushing, Don Rushing and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
