Mr. Robert Vernon Jones, age 93, of Murray, Kentucky died at 7:38pm Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Jones was born August 12, 1923 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Gladys Jones and Emma Petty Rutledge. He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church, Detroit, Michigan and a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was also preceded in death by a child, Costello Grogan.
He is survived by four daughters, Anita Crowe, Murray, Doris Thomas, Bowling Green, Fredrica Hargrove, Paducah, and Ann Foster, Murray; two sons, Baron Jones, Snellville, GA, and Brent Jones, Snellville, GA; fifteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 1:00pm Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with Minister Teresa Jackson officiating with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Friends may visit the family after 11:00am Friday at the Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home.
