In loving memory of Lou Ellen Preston of Greensboro, NC, 87, who died at home December 7, 2016. She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Preston of Greensboro; three children, Thomas Glenn Preston (Terry) of Burlington, NC ; David T. Preston (Rosalyn) of Charlottesville, VA; and Dr. April A. Preston ( Dr. Kyran Dowling) of Spartanburg, SC. Lou Ellen is also survived by five grandchildren: Elaine Marie Preston and John Foster Preston; Kara Ellen Dowling, Shannon Joan Dowling, and Alyssa Preston Dowling. Lou Ellen is the former Lou Ellen Trimble of Livingston County, KY where she was preceded in death by her parents Foster Oliver and Lura Shouse Trimble. Lou has a brother Eugene Trimble surviving and a brother Glenn Trimble who predeceased her.
Lou Ellen attended Livingston County (Kentucky) High School, Murray University (Kentucky) and is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. She has lived in Texas, Virginia, Ohio and most recently, North Carolina with her husband, Ralph, of 66 years, a veteran of WW2 and the Korean War and former executive of The Timken Company of Canton, Ohio. Lou Ellen was an accomplished bridge player; a talented pianist; supporter of her church and community; dedicated educator of her children; wife, mother, and grandmother extraordinaire; and much loved by her family and many friends.
Graveside funeral services will be Friday, December 16, 2016, at 10 AM, at Bethel Cemetery, with Rev. E.J. Saint officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
