JoAnn Kennedy Gelso, 83, of Pleasant Garden, NC, formerly of Metropolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Beacon Place Hospice Center in Greensboro, NC.
Mrs. Gelso retired from Massac Jr. High School as secretary after 25 years of service. She was also a founding member of the Community Christian Church in Metropolis.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Gelso of Pleasant Garden, NC and Ronald Lee Gelso of Anna, IL; three grandchildren, Rachel Lee Gelso of Germany, Katie Gelso of Metropolis, and Paige Gelso of Mt. Vernon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Dean Gelso; one sister, Myrtle Wills; and one brother, Robert Kennedy. Her parents were Robert Kennedy and Edith Edie
Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Community Christian Church in Metropolis with the Rev. Mike Hardison officiating. Burial will follow at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit the family from 1:00pm to service hour on Monday at the church.
