Mary Sue Brooks, age 77, of Paducah, passed away at 9:12 AM at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in Paducah.
Mary Sue Brooks was a well known Paducah area real estate developer, business owner and realtor for many years. She started her career as owner of the Carlisle County Auto Salvage Company. She opened Susie Q Shoppe clothing boutiques in 4 states from 1975 until 2010 and also owned a wholesale clothing line that distributed apparel to mom and pop stores in many states. She and her husband Billy then began their commercial development career In 1994 when they built and began managing the West Park Village Apartments in Paducah. They also developed the Brookhaven Subdivision in 2002 as well as other projects around McCracken County. She was one of the most successful real estate agents in our area for over 23 years. She worked with several real estate companies and was awarded the 100% Top Producer Award for Remax Realty Group in 2016. She was a member of the Board of Directors for Independence Bank.
Mary Sue Brooks also loved to help others and was a philanthropist to many organizations. She had a strong passion for Martha’s Vineyard Food Mission and helped them as well as many other charities throughout her life. Mary Sue was a 15 year cancer survivor and attended Heartland Worship Center.
Mary Sue Brooks is survived by her husband Billy Brooks and three daughters; Jan Partin Sexton (Keeven) of Paducah, Melinda Ford (John Mike) of Davenport, FL and Sidney Crowell (David) of Paducah and 8 grandchildren; Joe Arnold, Angela Arnold Birney (Casey), Brandon Arnold, Brent Arnold (Brandy), Christy Ford Houser, Michelle Ford Tapscott (Jay), Emily Crowell Smith (Greg), and Erika Crowell and 17 great- grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Thomas Watwood and Virginia Evelyn Copeland Watwood.
Funeral services for Mary Sue Brooks will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Nate Reynolds officiating and burial in Barlow Cemetery.
Visitation for Mary Sue Brooks will be from 4:00 PM- 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
