Richard Louis Hayden, 79, of Paducah passed away at 1:10 AM on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Hayden worked as a clerk for P&L Railroad for 30 years and was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, where he was also a choir member. He was a member of the Foster Parent Association for 28 years, St. Vincent DePaul, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda L. (Green) Hayden of Paducah; four sons, Timothy Louis Hayden (Rhonda) of Paducah, Christopher Joseph Hayden (Wendy) of Paducah, Danny Lee Watson (Sarah) of Marshall County, Joseph Dale Watson (Kara) of Paducah; two daughters, Mellanie Denise Maldonado of Nashville, Janet Parks Voigt (Thomas) of Paducah; two sisters, Jaqualine Marie (Hayden) Graham of Murray, Phyllis June (Hayden) Wooley (Pete) of Paducah; fourteen grandchildren, Amanda Chapman, Kurtis McClain, Hayden Parks, Drew Hayden, Travis Hayden, Max Hayden, Trevor Hayden, Chance Shaw, Brady Hayden, Lilly Hayden, Waylon Watson, Chase Watson, Taylor Croft, Hannah Croft; three great grandchildren, Aidyn McClain, Lincoln Croft, Hawkins Croft; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Arra Hayden; three brothers, Joseph Donald Hayden, William Eugene Hayden, James Albert Hayden.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Paducah with Father Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Paducah.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Hughes Funeral Home with prayer to be said at 8:00 PM.
