Mildred Quinn, 82, of Vallejo, CA passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 19. Mildred was born in Clinton, Kentucky and resided in Vallejo, CA over 60 years. Mrs. Quinn worked as a domestic in Marin County, CA and as a home health assistant for Solano County Health and Human Services for many years. She will be remembered for her love of family and community, her generosity, love of cooking, and love of entertaining people in her home. Mildred was an active parent with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a 50 year member of First Presbyterian Church, Vallejo, CA. In addition to being a humble member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Mrs. Quinn was a Life Member of the National Council of Negro Women. Mildred cherished the successes of her children and grandchildren.
Mildred was predeceased by husband, Clifton Quinn; parents, Brainard Sr. and Della Thomas; and brothers, George and Brainard Jr. Thomas. She is survived by children, Michael and Mitchell Gaines and Cortez and Corinne Quinn of Vallejo, CA; grandchildren Maurice Gaines of Vallejo, CA and Yaneivi Quinn of Oakland, CA; great grandchildren Mariah and Marshawn Gaines of Vallejo, CA; siblings, James Thomas and Betty Crisp of Clinton, KY and Virgil and Imogene Thomas of Louisville, KY; 4 sisters in law, Daison Jackson and Eloise Quinn of Vallejo, CA, Onie Thomas of Clinton, KY, and Frances Thomas of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, from 3 to 8 pm, at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol Street, Vallejo, CA. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 2 at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church, 1350 Amador Street, Vallejo, CA. Mrs. Quinn will be transported to Clinton, KY for interment by Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11 am on Monday, December 4 at Brown Funeral Home followed by a 1 pm graveside service at Clinton Cemetery.
