John William Reker, 82, of Paducah, Kentucky formerly of Carmi, Illinois passed away at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, John was a retired school teacher from the Carmi District 5. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Farm Bureau. John served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Cynthia Marie Auler of Paducah, Kentucky, Nancy Lee Harton of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Catherine Reker of Paducah, Kentucky, Jeanne C. Bundy of Paducah, Kentucky; son, MAJ(P)William “Bill” Allen Reker of Chester, Virginia; 12 grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Ashby Reker; son, John William Reker, Jr.; sister, JoAnne Hoh; parents, George John Reker and Lydia Marie Holt Reker.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wes Connor officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
