Edwards, Forest

Forest R. Edwards, 92, of Paducah, KY died at 12:03 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Springlake Health & Rehab Center.  Forest was a 61- year member of Immanuel Baptist Church were he taught Sunday School for some 40 years.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Kentucky in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

 

 Forest was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Union Carbide after 30 years in Management and Operations.  He was an avid U.K. “Big Blue” Fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.  Forest loved being with friends and family, who affectionately called him “POP.”

 

He is survived by four daughters, Patricia Lynn Edwards Barkley and husband, Alben W. Barkley, II of Marion, KY; Vicki Edwards Norman and husband, Michael B. Norman,of Wilkesboro, NC; Cynthia Lee Elliott of Paducah, KY and  Michal (Mike) Edwards Herrington and husband, Norris R. Herrington, of Sedalia, MO;  one brother, Kenneth Edwards and wife, Pansy, of Fountain Inn, SC;  11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding in death was  his wife of 69 years, Sara Allene Petway Edwards;  parents, Coral Mitchell Edwards and Tennessee Bell Hughes Edwards; three brothers, Mitchell, George and Palmer Edwards.

 

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Michael B. Norman officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military rites.   Visitation  will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 until service time of 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorman, Frances

Frances Dorman, 64, of Barlow, formerly of Riverside, CA died on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Mrs. Dorman was a homemaker and member of Grace United Methodist Church in LaCenter.

Surviving are two sons, William Elledge of Kevil, Jacob Dorman of Barlow; two daughters, Marie Mileant of Washington, Amber Thayer of Benton; three sisters, Rosie Burkholder of New Jersey, Patty Steingone of Riverside, CA, Norma Banales of South Dakota; three brothers, David Elledge of Riverside, CA, John Elledge Jr. of Riverside, CA, Charlie Elledge of Crestline, CA; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Dorman; and one sister. Her parents were John Edward Elledge and Marie Ysabel Deras.

Memorial services will be at 11:00am on Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Grace United Methodist Church in LaCenter with the Rev. Jamie Lee officiating.

Kenny Ray, 57, of Kevil, KY, formally of East Prairie, MO, passed away at 9:50 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his residence.

 

Kenny was a intercept extruder at VIWINTECH. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Native American Indian Association.

 

He is survived by his wife, Cheryll “Sherri” Haynes Ray; his father, Bill Ray Sr.; two daughters, Angie Stokes of Georgia, Stephanie Dowdy of Blandville, KY; one son, Chris Boulton of Kevil, KY; one sister, Kim Frye of Anniston, MO; and eight grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ross Ann Skaggs Ray Anderson; one sister; and one brother.

 

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the service time of 6:00 pm Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

James Oliver “Boaz” West Jr., 35, of Paducah passed away at 10:20 AM on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Baptist Health of Paducah.

 

Mr. West was of the Baptist faith.

 

He is survived by one daughter, Jenna West of Paducah; father, James West Sr. of Paducah; one sister, Gail Rhodes of Paducah; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Lynn West; three brothers, James Allen West, Don Allen West, Alan Lynn West; one sister, Tina Renee Clark; and his grandparents.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2016 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Topper Council officiating. Burial will follow at Haymes Cemetery in Benton.

John L. Dukes, 85, Paducah, KY passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, 10:08 p.m. at Lourdes Hospital.

 

John was retired from the Federal Mogul Steel Mill industries of South Bend and Gary, Indiana . He was preceded in death by his parents, Leamon  and Clara Gaines Dukes and two brothers.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Dukes of Paducah, KY; three daughters, Lynda Hicks of Paducah, Brenda Lee Dukes of Browndear, WS and Donella L. Evans of  Markham, IL; three step-daughters, Laverne Lovely of Paducah,  Julia Ann Hawkins and Angenet Hawkins  both of South Bend, IN; two step- sons , Brian Hawkins and Robert Hawkins both of South Bend, IN; four grandchildren; twenty-four step-grandchildren; one brother, Tony Pratt of Cleveland, OH; one sister, Christine Peoples, East Cleveland, OH; Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home with Anthony E. Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Charles Monroe Brannam, 70, of Salem KY passed from this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Livingston Hospital and Healthcare Services in Salem. 

Mr. Brannam was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of New Union Baptist Church.  He was a Mason and belonged to Carrsville Lodge 812.    

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Wilson Brannam of Salem KY; a son, Brian (Cindy) Brannam of Mt. Juliet TN; a daughter, Jana (Chris) King of Salem KY; sisters, Bettye (Robert) Harrison of Paducah KY and Phyllis (Randy) Flahardy of Marion KY; and five grandchildren, David Brannam, Andrew King, Adalynn King, Alyssa King and Ayden King.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas M. and Charlene Sunderland Brannam; and  grandparents, Clarence and Daisy Brannam, and Charlie and Nora Sunderland.      

Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services in Salem KY.  Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

Mary Z. Thomason, 85, of Gilbertsville died at 7:02am on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

She was a long-time member of Smithland First Baptist Church and worked in the retail clothing industry for several years.

She is survived by two sons Joe A. (Debra) Thomason of Gilbertsville and Jim F. (Karen) Thomason of Hopkinsville; one brother, L.D. Savage Jr of Calvert City; two sisters, Vivian Vaughn of Reidland and Gloria Slayden of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Josh, Matt and Christian Thomason; eight great-grandchildren, Cameron, Olivia, Jordan, Katelyn, Gavin, Carter, Nolan and Ashlyn Thomason; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Elbert A. Thomason; three brothers, Paul W. Sauvage, Lynn Sauvage, and Devon Sauvage; and one sister, Lou Ella Coffee. Her parents were Lorenzo and Zetta Sauvage.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. C.C. Brasher officiating. Burial will follow in Smithland Cemetery.

Wayne Coram, 83, of Brookport IL, died Tuesday evening, May 17th, 2016 at Baptist health of Paducah.

Wayne was a retired laborer for EEI of Joppa, IL. He was also a member of Calvery Baptist Church of New Liberty, IL.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elaine; seven children, Glenda Herring of Metropolis, IL., Eddie Coram of Brookport, IL., Ronnie Coram of Metropolis, IL., Randy Coram of Paducah, KY., Terry Coram of Brookport, IL., Glenn Coram of Metropolis, IL., and Leigh Ann Kepner of Paducah; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rosie Green Coram; and two children, Jeff and Joyce Coram.

Graveside services will be Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at Pell Cemetery in Brookport, IL. Starting at 11am with Rev. David Siere officiating.

Rodney G. Greene, Sr. 61 passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, 2:30 p.m. at his residence in Paducah, Kentucky.

 

Rodney was a member of Oakalone Christian Church and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin. He retired from the United States Enrichment Corporation and was presently employed with Babcock and Wilcox. He was a lifetime member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

 

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, George Greene, Jr. and a son, Rodney G. Greene, Jr.

 

He is survived by his wife, Charmaine M. Greene of Paducah; two sons, Reginald Greene of New York City, NY and Devin Majors of Paducah; two daughters, Kyra Greene of El Cajon, CA and Marissa Majors of Paducah; four grandchildren; his mother, Geraldine Greene of Minneapolis, MN;  two sisters, Patricia VanPelt of Minneapolis, MN and Alexia Greene of Memphis, TN; one brother, Brandon Greene of North Miami, FL; two uncles, one aunt, several nieces and cousins.

 

Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Christ Temple Apostolic Church with Reverend Anthony Walton and Reverend Clayton Beasley officiating.

 

The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Mr. Billy Bradley Mitchell, age 47, of Murray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

 

          Mr. Mitchell was born January 6, 1969 in Murray, Kentucky. He was a self-employed floor mechanic and a member of the Ledbetter Baptist Church.

 

          Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his father, Billy Durant Mitchell; and by one son, Blake Monroe Mitchell.

 

          Survivors include his wife, Veronica “Vicky” Mitchell of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on  September 3, 2015 in Marshall County, Kentucky; mother, Clara Sweet of Murray; five daughters, April Nichole Garrett, Brad Renee’ Mitchell,  Mazie Sinclair Mitchell all of Murray, Kentucky, Brittany Gilman of Benton, Kentucky and Brianna Davison of Callahan, Florida; two sisters, Jennifer Renee’ Severns and husband Martin of Almo, Kentucky and Krista Jill King and husband Lloyd of Frankfort, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Kai Ryleigh Garrett and Zane Brighton Garrett both of Murray, Kentucky, Kristyn Runkle and Roselyn Runkle both of Benton, Kentucky.

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Ilene Taylor, age 95, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

 

            Mrs. Taylor was born in Kirksey, Kentucky on August 15, 1920 to the late Virgil McCallon and Hettie McCallon. Mrs. Taylor retired from food services at Murray State University and was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church.

 

            In addition to her parents Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Taylor; two brothers, Dyrus Mcallon and Orbon McCallon; three sisters, Gertrude Wilson, Anna Roberts and Vera Laycox; as well as one granddaughter, Katy Koch.

 

            Mrs. Taylor is survived by two sons, Danny Taylor and wife Virginia of New Concord, Kentucky and Jimmie Taylor of Murray, Kentucky; one sister, Thelda Watson of Murray, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Eddy Taylor, Lori Murphy, Scott Taylor, Stacy Hendon, Jon Tubbs, Joey Tubbs, Danny Koch and Jennifer Tolley; as well as thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

 

            Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.

L’O’ Ease Williba, age 75, of Paducah passed away on Saturday, 11:38 p.m.,May 14, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah.

She was a member of the Ninth Street Tabernacle Ministries and a retiree from The United States Enrichment Corporation-Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant with 24 years as a Cascade Operator.

L’O’ Ease was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Brown and Lee Ella Priest Brown, five sisters and eight brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Shedric Diane Williba and Jacqueline Bonita Nailing both of Paducah; two grandsons; two brothers, Henry L. Brown and  Theodore Brown both of Chicago, Il; two sisters, Ethel Lee Bartlett of Calumet City, Il and Olivia Morris of Chicago, Il; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, 3:00 p.m., at the Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Alfred Anderson and Reverend James Zell Williba will officiate.

Willie C. Johnson, age 50, of Paducah, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, 11:25 pm, at Baptist Health Paducah.

He was a member of Ninth Street Church of Christ and formerly worked at Vinyl Windows, Inc and J.C. Penny’s.

He is survived by one brother, Jerry Johnson of Louisville, KY; three sisters, Helen Simpson, Brenda Martin and Carrie Johnson, all of Paducah; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. Johnson and Iola Davis Johnson and three brothers, Danny Johnson, Tracy Johnson and C.W. Johnson.

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 1:00 pm, at Ninth Street Church of Christ.   Mark Rowe will officiate and burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Patricia Ann “Andee” Schrader, 68, of Paducah, formerly of Sikeston, MO, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Andee was born in Paducah, KY on February 18, 1948 to the late Glenn D. and Hazel Curtis Schrader.  She moved to Sikeston in 1975 to become the accountant and office manager of Shuffits Nursing Home.  In 1978, she received a Missouri long term care administrators license.  In 1985 she joined SEMO Management Group, where she was the comptroller for eleven long term care facilities while in Missouri.  She retired from the long term care industry in 2000 after serving as the administrator of Miner Nursing Facility from 1999-2000.

 

Surviving are her sister, Debbie Caspar of Paducah; godchildren, Cara Frazier and Brenna Barnett both of Sikeston; and many longtime friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her niece, Melissa Caspar and her parents.

 

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Brad Whistle officiating.  A private burial will be  held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be held from 9:30am until the service hour on Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Tammy J. Skirvin, age 44, of Calvert City, KY passed away Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Marshall County Hospital Emergency room. She was a Dietitian at the Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY.

Mrs. Skirvin is survived by her husband Lewis Skirvin of Calvert City, KY, her son Lewis W. Skirvin of Calvert City, KY, two daughters Shanna Skirvin of Calvert City, KY, and Misty Dawn Birchem of Martin, TN one brother Michael Kimmons; her father Billy Kimmons of Calvert City, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Skirvin was preceded in death by her mother Martha (Edgin) Kimmons.

Doris J. Johnston, age 88 of Calvert City, KY died on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Lake Way Nursing & Rehabilitation in Benton, KY. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Born Friday, October 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Guy Salyer and the late Lona (Phillips) Salyer. She was retired from Florsheim Shoe Company in Paducah, KY.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Marvin Louis Johnston of Calvert City, KY, daughters, Linda Rose of Benton, KY, Kathy Farmer of Benton, KY and Brenda Rose of Lewisport, KY; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 grandson, Brent Rose.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Brad White officiating.
Interment will follow in the Salyer Cemetery, Benton, KY.

Melanie Lamb, 59, of Kevil died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Lamb was a former tax accountant and member of Heartland Worship Center.

Surviving are her husband, Douglas Lamb of Kevil; one daughter, Melissa Bryan of Paducah; her father, Ed DuBerry of Kevil; three sisters, Sue Kidd of Kevil, Angel Hetrick of Huntsville, AL, Lee Hughes of Sikeston, MO; four brothers, Don DuBerry, Mark DuBerry, Scott DuBerry, and Daniel DuBerry all of Albuquerque, NM; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Ann DuBerry.

Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Heartland Worship Center with the Rev. Bryan Phelps officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Bayou Church Cemetery.

Harry Lynn Long, 81, of Burna, died Tuesday, May 19th, 2016 at 7:30am at his home.

Mr. Long was a supervisor for Walker Boat Yard, and was a Navy veteran. He was one of the few remaining cowboys and loved to go on trail rides.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Burna; one daughter, Sharon ( Bob) Martin of Illinois; four sons, Stevie Long of Paducah, Gerald (Ruby) Long of Paducah, Joey Long of Kuttawa, David Ray of Smithland; two stepsons, Shane (Heather) McManus of Wickliffe, and Joe (Jennifer) McManus; two sisters, Paula Stinnet of Smithland, and June Brasher of Smithland; one granddaughter Ashley Cook of Burna; seven great grandchildren, Sheena Cook, Ruby Ann Cook, Briana, Maddie, and Landon Long, and Jonah and Hannah McManus; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Joseph & Alberta Long; his parents; one brother, Bill Long; and one sister, Verdine Smith.

Visitation will be Monday, May 23rd, 2016 from 10am to 12 noon at Smith Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 12 noon, May 23rd, 2016 at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
